The Fletchwood Tunnel Child's Story Ages 9 to 12, Hudkins Publishing
Eleven-year-old Robert is a boy who is full of adventure and hankers to explore his surroundings. Robert isn’t one to give up, a quality that leads him to the discovery of the tunnel and another realm. He’s always been obsessed with fantasy, so this destiny is right up his alley! He has, after all, lived in the Fletchwood house for the past five years, and he’s never been able to shake the feeling that there’s something special and mysterious about it.
Then, finally, on this recent summer day, Robert and his best friend Terry, who is also eleven years old and lives across the street. He shares Fletchwood’s love for fantasy and adventure, so Terry is just as excited as Robert is about their discovery. Robert and Terry have known each other since first grade, so they are as close as brothers.
So, when they finally stumble upon this secret and discover a tunnel beginning at the top of Fletchwood’s closet that leads the boys to another realm, where fantastical characters abound and strange new friends await, this has "explore me every waking moment" written all over it!
It’s Fletchwood’s very own version of The Lion,
The Witch, and The Wardrobe, and he and Terry are loving every second of this fantastical secret world. During one of their adventures they meet Mikis Wheelwhistle: a friendly gnome whom Robert and Terry befriend on their travels to the other realm. Mikis Wheelwhistle is kind and hospitable, generously inviting the boys into his home and giving them a tour of the other realm.
But then one afternoon, Robert and Terry discover the tunnel has sealed itself off, preventing the boys from returning to their own world! When the boys are in trouble, Mikis Wheelwhistle tries his hardest to help them return to their own world.
Will Robert and Terry ever get home?
